Parcel Loading Points - Explanatory Notes on Parcel

EXPLANATORY NOTES ON PARCEL

1. All types of commodities, including Luggage, will be charged uniformally at the same rates, under four different Scales, depending on the type of service.

2. The four Scales for different Parcel rates and the four types of Parcel services are as under: -

3. Newspapers and Magazines will be charged at same rates, under the lowest Scale-E, by all trains.

4. Minimum distance for charge for all parcels, except registered Newspapers and Magazines, will be 50 kilometers and the minimum charge will be Rs.30.00.

5. Minimum distance for charge for the registered Newspapers and Magazines will be 250 kilometers and the minimum charge will be Rs.2.00.

6. The maximum permissible weight and dimensions of any package/article which can be accepted for booking, except by previous arrangement, are as under:-

7. Parcels will be charged either by actual weight or by weight derived on volumetric basis, which ever is higher. For this purpose, each 28.00 cubic decimeters of volume, or its fraction, will be equivalent to 4.00 kilograms.

8. Any package whose weight exceeds 100 kilograms or whose outside measurements exceed 1.0 meter X 1.0 meter X 0.7 meter will be treated as bulky article and charged at double the normal rates. However, a tolerance of 10% in any one outside dimension is permissible provided its weight on volumetric basis does not exceed 100 kilograms.
